Missions
Light for the World fights against avoidable blindness and for the integration of visually impaired people in DR Congo, Rwanda and Tanzania. As a Belgian recognized NGO, we provide accessible eye care and inclusive education with the help of our local partners. 4.5 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa have a form of avoidable blindness. Only ten percent of children with disabilities attend school. Light for the World has been fighting this injustice for more than 25 years. Together, we let them live a brighter life. We make eye care locally accessible to all. With our experts and local partners, we support eye clinics and units, provide quality infrastructure and train staff. The focus of our education programs is on inclusive education: visually impaired children attend classes together with sighted peers. This promotes their integration and breaks the stigma of their disability.
