It is based on the Social Profit DataTrust: a database of 70,000 references containing detailed information on non-profit organisations, foundations, social economy enterprises, etc.

This information, updated automatically, comes from three official sources: The Crossroads Bank for Enterprises, the National Bank of Belgium, the National Office for Social Security 

By pooling this data, we now have comprehensive, structured information on all the good causes in Belgium. Thanks to this catalogue, because is increasing the transparency of data and the way organisations operate. The legitimacy of their social objectives and the added value they bring to society are thus consolidated.

How do I complete and/or modify the information about my organisation?

If your organisation is already listed in the because catalogue, all you have to do is create an account via the home page, link this account to your organisation and then fill in or modify the information. All information can be modified, with the exception of financial data. In the interests of transparency, these are provided directly by the National Bank of Belgium.

If your organisation is not yet listed on because, please contact us so that we can add it to the catalogue as soon as possible.

What information should I include/update about my organisation?

The more information a donor or volunteer has about your activities and the state of your accounts, the more confidence they will have in your organisation and the more likely they will be to support you with a donation of money, kind or time. Transparency is the first step towards a close relationship with your contacts.

Every day, thousands of visitors consult the because database. The because services are completely free, both for publishing and consulting information about associations and foundations.

Thanks to the contact details in the catalogue and the various support options you have described, your organisation can be contacted directly by potential donors and volunteers.

Please note that no tax certificate is issued by the King Baudouin Foundation for donations made following consultation of because catalogue.
