Missions

Modified by organisation

Asbl Les Ateliers de la Traversine has set itself the goal of passing on knowledge and skills to citizens who are already aware, or not yet aware, of the challenges of societal change (climate change, loss of biodiversity, degradation of soils and ecosystems, energy crisis, economic relocation, social inequality, insecurity, loss of meaning, etc.) and of enabling this public to develop their ability to understand the living world and to be resilient in all areas.

To achieve this, it organises and designs training courses in the form of teaching cycles, support modules, visits and participative workshops in a variety of fields. The following is a non-exhaustive list of training courses currently being run or planned: market gardening; forest gardening; beekeeping; healthy cooking; light housing; eco-construction; low-tech crafts; personal development; socio-cultural activities; etc.

With several hectares of land at its disposal, it also aims to develop experimentation and production facilities in line with the content of its various courses;

The socio-cultural dimension of the project also involves hosting a range of activities and projects, specific to the economic, ecological and societal transition movement, which bring together, train and develop around the poles of culture, entrepreneurship, know-how and transmission.

        Training in vegetable gardening

        Cycle of vegetable garden training courses - Inspired by the principles of permaculture, our aim is to offer you techniques and knowledge that can be directly reproduced at home. Our aim is to respect biodiversity and the soil, and create abundance.

        Our courses are aimed at adults and children (aged 8 and over) and are designed in cycles of 5 workshops (from February to June and from July to November). All the activities take place in the Traversine vegetable garden at 2, rue de la Pompe, 4260 Braives.

        Braives cultural associations

        We offer our premises and outdoor spaces to host exhibitions, concerts, storytelling and film screenings. Our aim is to make La Traversine accessible to the village and surrounding area through cultural activities.

        Repair Cafe

        The Braives-Burdinne Repair Café is intended to be a friendly place where anyone can come and take part in the project, whether to repair everyday items or to help out with workshops or organisation.

        The setting is inspiring and the non-profit organisation Les Ateliers de la Traversine will be delighted to welcome you! Even if you don't have anything to fix, don't hesitate to drop in for a refreshment and a chance to network!

        Do you want to support this organisation?

        Through donations or sponsorship, you will enable us to further develop our infrastructure. The buildings (long lease) are in need of major renovation, and we would also like to develop our market garden areas, in particular by purchasing new greenhouses. We would also like to develop a bicycle workshop.

        You can also join us as a volunteer, either individually to support us in our day-to-day activities, or as part of a group to carry out participative workcamps. You can find examples of workcamps that have already been carried out on our facebook page.

        For further information, please do not hesitate to contact us by e-mail or telephone.
